The recently-elected Rajya Sabha member from Punjab, Vikramjit Singh Sahney, on Monday announced that he will donate his salary and that of his staff during his entire term of six years for the education of economically weak Punjabi students.
Sahney, who is the International President of World Punjabi Organisation and Chairman of Sun Foundation, took oath as a Rajya Sabha member on Monday. He took oath in Punjabi.

Before that Kirtan and Ardaas was organized at the Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib where over 5000 people came to greet Sahney, who has also been awarded with the Padma Shri.
On the occasion, he launched the Punjab Education Fund and the amount works out to around Rs 32 lakh per year equivalent to Rs 2 crore in six years.
