The ethnic cleansing and exile of Kashmiri Pandits is entirely bigoted, communal and anti India. The primary intent of killers of both Hindus and Muslims is to achieve secession of Jammu & Kashmir and eventually its possible annexation by Pakistan. The killers have the motivation of murdering all those who, they and their masters in Pakistan, perceive as peaceful and loyal citizens of India.
These days the movie “Kashmir Files”, which is trending globally, has ignited massive emotional reactions in India and abroad. It is being termed not just as a movie, but a package of emotions. It mirrors only a part of horrific brutalities inflicted on Kashmiri Pandit and other natives. It is based on actual facts and truthfully depicts the savagery and barbaric brutalities inflicted on the Kashmiris by Kashmiri terrorists following orders from their Pakistani masters. The genocide of Kashmiri Pandits was and is scripted by Pakistan with the primary objective of annexing Kashmir.
Acute fear and scare was created which gripped the Kashmiri Pandits from September 1989 onwards after the killings of prominent members of the community. The Pandits started feeling like what they had felt when hounded by Afghans in the second half of the 18th century — “there is fear and dread in the city. Prepare for journey, disorder is dominant in this city, we are the targets and victims.”
The choice of exile was forced on the Kashmiri Pandit community by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists who imposed their writ on Kashmir by unleashing death and destruction. “Killing one and scaring a thousand was a concerted plan” neatly executed by local terror groups. The state government at that time abdicated its constitutional duty, created a socio-political vacuum and left people’s life and liberty at the mercy of looters, marauders and terror groups. The terrorist violence is unabated till this day. The terrorists maimed, killed, lynched and looted a large number of Kashmiri Pandits and other natives. The terror-stricken Pandits ran for their lives, leaving their homes and hearths behind.
The UNHRC and NHRC are cognisant of the brutal savagery inflicted on Pandits as a community and other natives. The NHRC has returned a finding in 1999, after hearing all that the intent and motivation of the killers of Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims is to ethnically cleansing the minorities community and scare rest of Kashmiri’s loyal to republic of India.NHRC has categorised the acts of motivated killings and other brutalities on the citizens as “Akin to Genocide.”
Almost three years ago, on 5 August, 2019 the decision to abrogate Article 370 and 35-A, a sense is gathering around that their plight as native exiled Kashmiri is being slowly forgotten. Everybody sheds crocodile tears over their suffering, but nothing by way of action is seemingly visible by the Modi-2.0 and J&K Union Territory Government. The future of Pandits, as an important stakeholder and a relevant component to the resolution of the Kashmir imbroglio, is less and less talked about.
The Kashmir files has helped to showcase the brutalities suffered by KPs and the overwhelming support and emotions of whole nation is a stark reality of the day. MODI 2:0 is required to respect and respond to the current focus on reversal of KPs exile.
After Article 370 was made inoperable in August 2019, the expectations of the native population from Kashmir skyrocketed for the return to their roots by the reversal of their thirty-year-old exile status from the homeland. They are living as refugees in their own country, the independent Republic of India.
PM Modi urged people of the country and Jammu and Kashmir “Come, let us all together, build a ‘new Jammu and Kashmir and new Ladakh’ with the new India.” He said, I have complete faith, under this new system, we all will be able to free Jammu and Kashmir from terrorism and separatism and integrate the state fully with rest of the country. He called it a Naya Kashmir vision.
He further emphasised that “Those from Jammu and Kashmir who live elsewhere for whatever reasons and circumstances and longing to return to their homes will be helped by the government. It is the time now or never to fulfil the commitment of reversal of exile and plan the return rehabilitation and restitution of 7 lakhs KP aborigines natives back in the Valley. Create three smart townships in Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag for the composite habitations.
As confidence building with Kashmiri’s at least take the following measures. What matters the most in Kashmir political turbulence is winning the hearts and minds of all the sections of Kashmiri’s to promote the idea of secular and democratic India in Kashmir.
Set up a truth and reconciliation commission to probe the following:
Should it not be probed what role Mufti Saeed play as the Home Minister then in saving Pandits from genocide; for releasing many militants from jail in exchange of his kidnapped daughter and in his tenure as CM for releasing the diehard militants like Yasin Malik, Hamid Sheikh, Bitta Karate, Javed Nalka and others; should the nation not know how hundreds of Kashmiri Muslim youth could cross the border in Kupwara district to the other side and come back from the same route albeit with training in arms and arms and ammunition.
Should it not be probed why the Army Corps Commander did not order movement of troops on a flag march in the city of Srinagar on the morning of 20th January to take control of things; why not a single soldier was moved out of Badami Bagh Cantonment on 20th January when most critical situation was developing in areas very close to Badami Bagh?
Should not the public know why the J&K Police disappeared from their beats within the blink of the eye and left for their homes ignoring their duty and responsibility.
Should not Farooq Abdullah be probed for the charges of abdicating his constitutional duty by resigning as CM without consulting his cabinet and Congress party ministers in his government and for creating a political vacuum consequently terrorists got a freehand to kill people.
Finally, who is responsible for the eruption of armed insurgency in Kashmir?
