Modi weakening India: Rahul Gandhi at Congress rally

Rahul Gandhi addressed a 'Mehangai Par Halla Bol' rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi today and charged Modi and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with spreading fear and hatred in the country.

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday charged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with spreading fear and hatred in the country.

Rahul Gandhi addressed a ‘Mehangai Par Halla Bol’ rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on his return from abroad. He along with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had left for abroad in the last week of August. His ailing grandmother later passed away.

The rally was attended by a large number of Congress supporters who descended on the national capital from neighbouring states of Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh.

He accused Modi and the BJP of weakening the country and insisted that only the Congress can unite India and take it on the path of progress.
The former Congress president claimed that the government has shut the path of the opposition from speaking in Parliament. “The only way for us is to talk directly to people and tell the truth of the country to people and hear them out,” he said while listing out the reasons for the party’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ starting from September 7.
He said Modi, the BJP and the RSS are spreading hatred that will not benefit India, but China and Pakistan.

Accusing the Modi government of having failed in providing employment, he said the ruling party is working to benefit only select two big industrialists.
“In return, they are working for the Prime Minister 24 hours, who is equally reciprocating the favour.”
Rahul Gandhi said ever since the BJP government came to power at the Centre, hatred and anger have been increasing in the country. “There is pressure on institutions such as the media, judiciary, Election Commission, and the government is attacking all of them,” he added.
The fear of inflation and unemployment is increasing in the country, he said, and highlighted the plight of people facing many hardships due to price rises and unemployment.

He claimed that whenever the opposition tries to raise their voice in Parliament, the Modi government does not allow it to do so.
The country’s situation is such that even if it likes, it cannot give jobs to its youth, he said.
Rahul Gandhi also alleged that the three ‘black farm laws’ were brought in not to help farmers, but to benefit a few industrialists.
