NBA All-Star and Pixstory Ambassador Dwight Howard has been leading with love in his ongoing trip to India – from welcoming “Superman” chants at the Taj Mahal in Agra to hosting a ‘meet and greet’ for Lakers fans across Delhi.
In a spiritual trip across the Ganges in Varanasi, the Los Angeles Lakers center-forward expressed gratitude for the sacred city, and a belief in how its “reincarnation” will continue to inspire many more.
“At peace with myself and the world after a visit to Varanasi. A spiritual journey that has rejuvenated the soul,” Howard posted. “Varanasi has inspired so many legends, I am humbled.”
Howard documented his experience in Varanasi by sharing a prayer ceremony that spreads “peace and love” in remembrance of everyone who has passed away across the world.
“We are about to pray for everyone who we don’t know, people who we do know – we just want to pray for peace… Join the Pixstory app to spread peace around the world” Howard wrote on Pixstory.
Howard’s advocacy for peace aligns with his advocacy for a behavioural shift in social media through Pixstory, a new social media app that is designed to create a safe space for users to express themselves without worrying about hate and misinformation.
Howard has been using Pixstory as a space to express his unfiltered self, as a way to share joy, and as a platform to document anti-Black racism.
As someone who has experienced the toxicity often associated with social media, the NBA legend has also been drawing attention to how Pixstory’s commitment to connecting people by valuing “people over profits” will make the world a better place.
