Anand Sharma, the Congress party’s deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, got a pat on his back for his speech in the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
Sharma, who dismissed the President’s Address as a laundry list of government’s announcement of programmes, said the speech made no mention of national security.

As soon as he wound up his speech, his party colleague and Leader of the Party Mallikarjun Kharge was lavish in his praise. Kharge could be heard telling Sharma, who is due to retire in April, that it was a statesman-like speech.
