Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Pilibhit (Uttar Pradesh) Feroze Varun Gandhi has been vocal about his displeasure with his party, again, lately. The Gandhi family scion has attacked it on almost every issue, including the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. More recently he has taken umbrage over the appointment of new JNU vice chancellor.
When the son of the late Sanjay Gandhi family, the younger son of Indira Gandhi, is disgruntled with his party, the first buzz is that he is about to jump ship. This time too it is no different.
There is a strong buzz in political circles that Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has spoken to her younger cousin. It is a well known fact that the two cousins shared good relations at one point of time.
This press release from the new JNU VC is an exhibition of illiteracy, littered with grammatical mistakes (would strive vs will strive;students friendly vs student-friendly;excellences vs excellence).Such mediocre appointments serve to damage our human capital & our youth’s future pic.twitter.com/tSanmy3VfR

It is likely that Varun will wait for the outcome of the elections in the five states, including the crucial one in Uttar Pradesh, to take a call on his future move.
Thus, a lot depends on the BJP’s performance in these five states. He might opt for reconciliation in the event the BJP retains Uttar Pradesh. A similar buzz was heard before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but eventually Varun decided to stay on with the party.
Now, if Varun Gandhi decides to jump ship, his mother Maneka Gandhi will not join him as she would prefer to maintain a status quo, given her strained relations with Sonia Gandhi.
