Nakur, is numbered as the Constituency Number two after Behat. It is part of the Kairana Lok Sabha constituency, but belongs to Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh.
The constituency has existed since the first election held in 1952. In returned Congress candidates in the first two elections and Independents in the subsequent elections to the assembly. It again returned to the Congress fold in the 1974, 1977, and 1980 elections. Yashpal Singh, who was the candidate in the three elections won the seat again in 1993, before which, Ram Sharan of the Lok Dal won the seat in 1985 and Kunwar Pal Singh won it in the 1989 and 1991 elections.
Yashpal Singh won the seat for the Congress in 1993. But since the 2000 election the seat has gone from Rashtriya Lok Dal, then Sushil Chaudhary of the Congress wrested the seat in 2002, Mahipal Singh won the seat for the BSP in 2007, and Dharam Singh Saini won it for the BSP 2012 and for the BJP in 2017. Dharam Singh Saini is the SP’s candidate in 2022.
Nakur town demographically is made up 52.24% males and 47.45% females and also boasts of 72.78% literacy.
